Investment in Alberta’s extensive
rail network simplifies moving
goods to market

SHORTLY AFTER JOSH HUSTER and his three business partners founded
Alpenglow Rail in 2016, they made a first pass at acquiring Alberta Midland Railway
Terminal (AMRT). While the timing wasn’t quite right then, five years later, the American
company purchased AMRT and brought it into its growing fold of rail terminals across
Canada and the U.S.
“I put in a cold call to the founders of AMRT in 2017,” says Huster, co-founder and
chief strategy officer of Alpenglow Rail. “He actually called me back after we stayed in
touch over the years and said, ‘you know, I think now’s a better time.’”
In October 2022, AMRT — a rail terminal located in Lamont County approximately
45 kilometres northeast of Edmonton — was acquired by Alpenglow Rail and
