Mathison Hall is a space dedicated to entrepreneurial thinking and experiential learning experiences – part of a $90 million project at the University of Calgary’s main campus to transform the delivery
of business education. As the mechanical engineers on the project, Smith + Andersen implemented high-efficiency mechanical solutions and upgrades that achieved a total 54 per cent energy cost reduction against a reference model based on ASHRAE 90.1- 2010, as well as a net-zero energy increase across both the new Mathison Hall and existing Scurfield Hall. The systems were skillfully integrated to support the University’s aspirations for a bold and innovative campus landmark.
