Welcome to the 2025 edition of
Invest in Alberta/Xperience Alberta Magazine,
the official publication of Economic Developers Alberta
When you look up at the Alberta
sky, what you’ll see on most
days is sunshine. It’s a fitting
metaphor for the optimism and opportunity
that define our province.
Alberta is known for having the highest
number of sunny days in Canada as well as
majestic mountains, open spaces, forests
and fresh air — but it’s the people who
truly make Alberta extraordinary.
Albertans work together to build a
thriving economy and safe communities
where everyone belongs. Every year, people
from across Canada and around the world
choose Alberta as their place to live, work
and grow. Families benefit from a high
standard of living, with higher incomes
and a lower cost of living than many other
parts of the country. Alberta boasts the
youngest and fastest-growing workforce
in Canada, with the highest proportion of
post-secondary educated workers and the
most engineers per capita nationwide.
Alberta’s affordability, diversity and
vibrant communities make it a destination
where success and quality of life go hand
in hand.
Behind these thriving communities
are the economic developers who work to
create opportunities, foster collaboration
and attract investment. From small towns
to big cities, these dedicated professionals
are the driving force behind the province’s
economic growth.
For over 50 years, Economic Developers
Alberta (EDA) has been the exclusive
professional organization to support the
work of these professionals. Our vision
is clear: economic developers provide
the expertise essential to building a
prosperous, diverse and sustainable Alberta.
We bring this vision to life by equipping our
members with resources, connections and
opportunities to amplify their impact —
fueled by partnerships spanning local,
national and international levels.
Our work in 2025 is driven by the theme
“amplify. attract. accelerate.” This reflects our
commitment to building on our strengths,
expanding our impact and equipping our
members with cutting-edge resources to
implement bold, forward-thinking strategies
that build vibrant, inclusive and sustainable
communities in Alberta.
