 TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICS
  EMBRACE. ELEVATE. ENVISION. 2 0 2 4 INVEST IN ALBERTA 79
Alberta’s major industries are all tied together by one major ribbon. It’s a ribbon connected by pavement, runways, pipeline and rail. No matter if it’s shipping natural resources to customers
around the globe, getting agricultural products to market or welcoming tourists, the province has a cohesive and interconnected transportation network to ensure people and goods can move as efficiently as possible.
In the most recent annual report from Alberta Transportation, the province maintains 31,400 kilometres of highways. If you put all of those roads in a straight line, it would extend three quarters of the way around the world, at the equator.
Alberta’s airports are seeing increased cargo and passenger traffic not only in the hubs of Calgary and Edmonton, but centres like Red Deer and Lethbridge. More international connections have been added. Travel is expected to meet and surpass the levels we saw prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recently, the Ministry of Transportation and Economic Corridors announced the allocation of $7.3 billion over the course of three years to provide funding for priority infrastructure projects that will promote economic growth, create jobs, clear transportation bottlenecks and reduce congestion in key trade and industrial corridors.
Alberta is ready to move.
