LETHBRIDGE: THE
RURAL ALBERTA
ADVANTAGE
Lethbridge is a great location to start, grow or expand your business
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
No, we’re not talking about the low home prices in Lethbridge compared to other cities, or the mountains that can be seen and experienced on one of the 300 plus days of sunshine in southern Alberta.
Lethbridge is an hour away from
the only 24-hour commercial Canada/ USA border crossing in the province, which makes the shipping of goods anywhere in North America more affordable in Lethbridge. Railroads help local businesses move their goods north, south, east, and west in a cost- effective way to reach both coasts and locations throughout North America, and continued investment into the Lethbridge Airport will see more commercial and cargo traffic in the next few years.
THE AGRI-FOOD EXPERIENCE
Lethbridge is an anchor of Canada’s Premier Food Corridor (CPFC) and home to numerous ag businesses and agri-food processors. We’re always looking for more to help populate the 350 acres of shovel ready land located in Sherring Industrial Park. The new Agri- food Hub & Trade Centre, completed
in June 2023, will help host events and spread the message that if you’re in the business of food ... you need to be here.

Calling a city of over 100,000 people ‘rural’ might be a misnomer, but Alberta’s third largest city has a unique combination of everything you’d find in
a big city, combined with a low cost of living and excellent quality of life. The opportunities for career and life goals that can be achieved in Lethbridge and the surrounding area are the reasons this community continues to grow at a steady pace and is home to many national and international businesses.
WORKING ON WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Each year, Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) and partners conduct their Brighter Together business survey
to investigate the needs of local businesses. Feedback from the local business community has directed EDL to projects to help upskill and reskill the local labour force with tools needed for the jobs of today ... and tomorrow. These initiatives include work in supply chain and logistics, with both the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College offering opportunities in this field. Other opportunities for a micro-credential are offered through other learning institutions.
EDL also administers the Lethbridge Rural Renewal Stream, focused on matching businesses in manufacturing, engineering, construction and health care with quality candidates experienced in those careers, considering Lethbridge
as a home. The Lethbridge Entrepreneur Stream is also set up to aid immigrants who would like to start their own business in Lethbridge or invest in a current business in the community.
