CITY OF LEDUC
 CITY OF LEDUC
Located at the crossroads of air, highway and rail in the Capital Region, the City of Leduc is ready to assist strategic businesses to set up shop or expand. One of Alberta’s fastest growing cities, now over 35,000 strong, Leduc is directly accessible to the Highway QE II corridor, and adjacent to Edmonton International Airport (EIA).
GROWTH IN LEDUC’S KEY SECTORS
The three key economic sectors in Leduc remain steady: oil and gas supply and service, value added agri-business and logistics. In 2023, Leduc welcomed Danish company FLSmidth. They merged with thyssenkrupp’s mining division. This created an important foothold in both
mining and oil and gas to deliver improvements in the areas of supply chain reliability, service, digital supports; and increased the availability of technologies, equipment and service expertise locally, in the Northern Territories and around
the world.
In value-added agriculture, the Province
of Alberta’s Agrivalue Processing Business Incubator’s (APBI) 2,300m2 expansion is well underway, with completion scheduled for Q1 of 2024. The APBI is a dynamic multi-tenant facility that supports the establishment and growth of food processing businesses in Alberta. From business initiation to new product development, the team is available to help lower the risk of the endeavor. The Economic Development team at the City of Leduc is also on hand to help them grow and continue on a successful journey.
STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS IN LEDUC
In 2022, construction began on
the 65th Avenue interchange, an initiative the City of Leduc has been advocating for over 20 years. This critical infrastructure will support safety and ease of movement of people
and goods throughout the province. The project provides enhanced QEII access to business parks, and unlocks commercial lands west of the highway. The start of construction has resulted in the movement of lands and new builds creating opportunities due to expected future ease of access. The completion of this project will stimulate Alberta’s economic development through investment growth, job creation and diversification. The enhanced access will foster increased trade and improve transportation logistics through access to Edmonton’s International
Airport (EIA). Construction made significant progress in 2023 and is on track for 2025 completion.
OUR COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
Leduc’s non-residential tax rate and business parks make us one of the most competitive and attractive markets to do business in the province. Region-leading permit approval processes, lauded at all levels, from
local companies to provincial leadership, attracted new and expanded buildings through 2023. Leduc continues to
break historical records for new business licenses, new building development permits and permit processing timelines. We are ready to help you land in Leduc.
