Opened in July 2023, the West Calgary Ring Road DB1 is a critical interchange and part of the connection of the Ring Road from the Bow River to Old Banff Coach Road, including significant upgrades along the Trans-Canada Highway. The constraints and challenges of this complex project required many innovative, unique and creative solutions. A constructable and economical design is a result of technical excellence. The identification of risk and mitigations ensured the advancement of the work and the achievement of the project milestones. Procured by EllisDon, AECOM was lead designer, supported by ISL Engineering, Spencer Environmental and GNEC.
