TOURISM &
HOSPITALITY
From backcountry camping to RV parks to five-star resorts,
Alberta has it all — the great outdoors to the urban sophistication
of a city.
Each year, Alberta attracts over 30 million visitors from Canada
and abroad, who come for the diverse beauty and experiences the
province has to offer, with nearly 5 million travellers coming to see
the iconic Rocky Mountains. But Alberta is so much more than just its
beloved mountain range.
Alberta breeds adventure. Home to over 600 lakes, 460 provincial
parks and thousands of kilometres of hike, ski and cycle trails, you’ll
run out of energy long before you run out of places to roam. And
with five designated Dark Sky Preserves across the province, it only
becomes more beautiful at night.
Alberta is also a cultural hot spot, with its biggest cities, Edmonton
and Calgary, home to some of Canada’s hottest restaurants and
cocktail bars. The cities both host internationally recognized festivals
like the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, which featured over
200 theatre productions in 2024, and Edmonton Folk Festival, which
attracts 100,000 music lovers every year. The Calgary Stampede,
which draws rodeo competitors from across North America,
welcomed a record-breaking 1.4 million visitors in 2024.
And that’s not the only new record — Stats Canada reports visitors
spent $12.7 billion in Alberta in 2023.
