BLACK CANADIAN WOMEN IN ACTION
THINKING BIG:
The vision and impact of BCW In Action in Western Canada
Black Canadian Women In Action (BCW) was born in 2017 from the aspirations of Black women in Western Canada and the voices of young Black girls yearning to be acknowledged amid shared experiences. The organization stands today as a towering force of hope and empowerment for the diverse tapestry of the Black community in Canada. As a bilingual charity organization, BCW continues to carve profound differences in the lives of Black Canadian women, girls and families.
At the heart of BCW's mission is an unwavering commitment to supporting Black women in businesses, advocating equality, breaking down barriers, fostering allyship and nurturing opportunities for growth. Founded on the simple yet powerful belief that a shared vision, coupled with the innovative power of
empowerment, can uplift society at large. One of BCW's recent groundbreaking
initiatives is the Anti-Racism Toolkit. In a world where the fight against systemic racism is more crucial than ever, BCW steps forward with a comprehensive digital resource aimed at educating, guiding and empowering individuals, organizations and entire communities.
Beyond these initiatives, BCW has crafted a multifaceted approach to empowering Black women and girls through business and community programs. These programs meticulously address the diverse needs of the Black community in Canada. From supporting Black entrepreneurs on their journey to conquering national and international markets to nurturing the growth and development of young girls, BCW's impact is both intentional and innovative.
UPCOMING HIGHLIGHT: BCW GLOBAL BUSINESS EXPO 2024
In the spirit of empowerment, BCW is gearing up for its annual Business Expo, an event that exemplifies its commitment to showcasing and elevating Black businesses on a global stage.
The success stories emerging from BCW's annual Business Expos are testimonials to the organization's effectiveness. A client shared: “My
experience with BCW and the BCW Expo has been fantastic. It was an amazing experience and encouragement as a business owner. I was honored to be one of the eight finalists for the pitch competition; what I enjoyed about
the Pitch was the training involved
to prepare us. It was great to hear the optimism from women from all communities and what they can bring to the economy.”
These testimonies echo the voices of individuals who have found their footing and are willing to think big beyond their terrain — taking their businesses to the next level.
As BCW looks forward to 2024, the organization remains steadfast in its pursuit of a more inclusive, equitable and successful society.
BCW: more than a charity organization, a force for growth.
