of the diverse regional economy. From energy and manufacturing, forestry and agriculture, technology and life sciences, tourism, hospitality and retail, the County of Grande Prairie is driving investment in the region through thoughtful, sustainable planning.
INVESTMENT ATTRACTION STRATEGY
The County of Grande Prairie’s new Investment Attraction Strategy was built to accelerate the County’s growth even further, raising our regional profile by promoting investment opportunities and sites to people and businesses outside of Alberta. Through several identified initiatives in the strategy, the County has new development tools to better welcome and support future growth.
CERTIFIED SITE PROGRAM
Our certified site program dramatically expands our ability to support local developers and landowners. Utilizing best practices and professional third-party service providers,
this comprehensive and competitive program improves investment readiness by providing a scalable platform for promoting shovel-ready sites throughout the region. Through this, the
County of Grande Prairie supports an expedited planning approvals process, fast-tracking new investment and modernizing attraction activities.
Completion of the program includes:
• A review of any relevant past work in the space
• A detailed inventory of top industrial sites for future development
• A review of best practices in the field of site certification
• A strategic overview building on the initial site identification, identifying ongoing development for effective investment attraction
The certified site program includes
a marketing program that will support
all County and region-led investment attraction opportunities, including design and web services. This portion of the program includes the development of branded materials to support business launches, marketing campaigns and trade shows.
RURAL RENEWAL STREAM
As a result of the regions steady
but rapid growth, we are utilizing a provincial program as a residential attraction strategy to assist with regional employers in filling the immediate
and future workplace requirements. The Rural Renewal Stream offers eligible workers an opportunity to immigrate to our region with the formal support of the County, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley, through a nomination process by the participating municipalities. The program welcomes newcomers to a safe, welcoming workplace where all employees
are valued and respected. In turn, the program supports workforce development by helping employers meet labour demands, expand
the skilled workforce and support community and economic growth.
